POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties for this position may involve but are not limited to:
- Develops and promotes key internal organizational programs related to equity, inclusion and accessibility.
- Leads, conducts and participates in projects to improve the effectiveness of internal programs, including project planning, implementation, stakeholder consultation, training and communication.
- Leads the development, assessment and delivery of equity, inclusion and accessibility training programs.
- Evaluates and reports on the effectiveness of key metrics and goals related to internal programs and initiatives.
- Writes reports and prepares recommendations to support internal program development and initiatives.
- Assists in raising awareness and understanding of internal equity, inclusion and accessibility programs within the organization.
- Acts as the lead interface for assigned Internal Support Network groups.
- Advises on procedures and implementation strategies for legislative requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
- Participates on relevant internal and external committees, professional associations and networks.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of a three (3) year post-secondary degree in Human Rights and/or Equity Studies, or related discipline.
- Minimum of three (3) years previous work experience developing, coordinator and implementing human rights, and/or employee equity and inclusion programs, preferably gained while working with a large, unionized organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and other related human rights legislation.
- Project management and report writing an asset.
- Previous experience in public speaking, demonstrated presentation and inclusive team facilitation skills.
- Ability to research, synthesize data, information and recommendations in a variety of formats including reports and presentations.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively and partnering with a broad range of equity seeking groups.
- Ability to collaborate and partner with diverse internal and external stakeholders, sometimes with competing interests, using strong interpersonal skills.
