Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to strategically manage and oversee the operations for the Stores and Quartermaster Bureau, ensuring an efficient and responsive supply chain. This involves utilizing vendor and contract management skills to establish a vendor base for goods and services. The Manager is accountable for the execution of inventory and logistics of personally issued uniforms and equipment, thereby ensuring operational readiness and effectiveness across policing activities. By maintaining optimal inventory levels and fostering collaborative relationships with vendors and stakeholders, the Manager supports the overall mission of York Regional Police.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Vendor and contract management includes Officer in Charge responsibilities of procurement to payment for Stores and Quartermaster, as outlined in AI 327. Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure optimal contract terms and service delivery. Ensure strict adherence to contract terms and conditions, conducting regular vendor performance reviews.
Operational management involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Stores and Quartermaster Bureau. Implement effective inventory and control measures, such as Kanban systems and as real-time inventory systems, to maintain accurate records and ensure availability of necessary supplies and equipment.
Effectiveness includes coordinating with internal stakeholders including the Clothing and Equipment Committee and District Improvement Committee to align Stores and Quartermaster activities with operational needs.
Strategic management includes identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance inventory systems. Develop and manage budgets for Stores and Quartermaster operations.
Partner with Ontario police services as needed.
Leading initiatives and best practices such as the implementation of recommendations from the Nova Scotia Mass Casualty Commission.
Responsible for providing supervision, advice, guidance and training as a subject expert and advisor regarding the quality, resources and timelines of a project.
Financial responsibility for managing resources, including people, budgets and capital plans, making financial decisions, controlling and monitoring expenses for the bureau.

Advanced knowledge of computer applications relevant to inventory management.
Strong planning, organizational, analytical, research and problem-solving abilities.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to foster a team-oriented environment.
Effective oral and interpersonal communication skills to liaise with stakeholders, vendors and the ability to work collaboratively in a multistakeholder setting.
Valid Ontario driver's license.
