Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the branding, design, layout and production of all corporate communications products, and ensuring that all products representing York Regional Police are consistent with the organization brand and produced to the highest standards.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and maintain the YRP brand book, outlining graphic design and production specifications.
Develop and maintain a stock photo library of corporate photography, for use in internal and external communications.
Create graphic design and layout for internal and external communications.
Create and manage large print projects.
Attend active warrant scenes to take photos in place of the media, and for use on YRP social media.
Working closely within a team environment to develop creative design products and campaigns.
Create and modify documents for AODA compliancy.
Serve as the official corporate photographer, responsible for capturing and editing the ECT portraits and internal/external events.
Use Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to manipulate, edit and colour correct photos and other pixel-based imagery.
Conceptualize and design large social medial and advertisement campaigns.
Professionally photograph YRP members with cameras and studio lighting, for use in corporate communications materials.
Collaborate and consult with external vendors to obtain quotes for and make orders of print products.
Prepare files for print production at commercial printers.
Research and apply market/industry information to develop effective and cost-effective strategies in the production of communication products.
Collaborate with and advise clients and supervisors to solve design and communication.
Education, Licensing & Certifications
Successful completion of a three (3) year College Diploma in Graphic Design, Photography, Multimedia or a related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of previous experience in advanced graphic design, photography, lighting, composition and photo editing.
Skills
Proficiency using Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, Acrobat) and designing products and design assets for use within the MS Office suite (PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
Proficiency with digital photography and using full frame camera equipment.
Solid understanding of the print production and pre-press process.
Adept at core design requirements (i.e. dimensions, colour, matching print process, layout).
Ability to work with high-end commercial grade printers and plotters to produce posters.
Creativity and problem-solving skills to deliver on projects, meet client needs and maintain the integrity of the YRP brand.
Communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal/external clients, vendors and suppliers to collaborate on projects.
Working knowledge of AODA standards and best practices.
